Micah Magness
Stoa Coach
Coach Micah is a four-time Stoa national champion whose uber-intelligence is matched only by his versatility.
What is Micah's competitive experience?
Armed with over a decade of speaking experience, Micah has competed in five debate styles across three separate leagues on both national and international stages.
What were the highlights of Micah's career?
As a sophomore, Micah and his partner won Parliamentary Debate at Nationals in 2023 and later became the only team in Stoa history to win and then return to Parliamentary Debate finals at Nationals a second time. In 2024, Micah secured the national titles in Apologetics and Lincoln-Douglas Speaking. In 2025, Micah became the Lincoln-Douglas Debate National Champion. Micah set the Stoa record for the most Lincoln-Douglas points ever earned in a single season and also holds the record for being the only competitor in Stoa history to appear in Apologetics finals at Nationals three times. During his time in the league, Micah secured 53 first-place finishes across the limited preparation, platform, interpretive, debate, and wild card events. He won second-place Tournament Champion at NITOC 2024 and finished his 2025 season ranked 2nd in the nation overall for combined speech and debate scores out of over 1,700 competitors.
What makes Micah a good coach?
Whether coaching the novice or the hyper-competitive champion, Micah has the same objective in mind: supplying you with the persuasion, depth, and clarity necessary to achieve your goals. Micah is not limited to one category of coaching. Whether you seek improvement in Parliamentary Debate, Lincoln-Douglas, platforms, or limited preps, Micah is at your service.
Why Does Micah Coach?
Micah has been involved in speech and debate since he was six years old. After thousands of hours spent perfecting the craft, he is well-equipped to guide you through the philosophical, evidential, strategic, and psychological aspects of debate. As a competitor, Micah developed a pet peeve: coaches that filled time with empty content, went down irrelevant rabbit trails, and focused on the hypothetical rather than the practical. Strategy you will actually utilize in your next round—that is what Micah provides you with in session. This is why Micah coaches.
